Ganpati Visarjan on Same Day – Ganpati Visarjan can be done on the same day of Ganesha Chaturthi after Ganesha Puja. Most Puja Vidhis of Hindu deities includes either Visarjan or Utthapana at the end of the Puja. However, Ganesha Visarjan on the same day as Ganesha Chaturthi is less popular.

Ganpati Visarjan after One and Half Day – Ganpati Visarjan can also be done on the next day of Ganesha Chaturthi which is called one and half day Ganesha Visarjan. It is also one of the popular days to perform Ganesha Visarjan. Ganesha devotees, who do Visarjan on the next day of Ganesha Chaturthi, perform Ganesha Puja during the afternoon and take the Ganapati idols for Visarjan after Madhyanha which is equivalent to midday as per the Hindu division of the day.

Ganpati Visarjan after 3rd Day – Ganesh Visarjan can be performed on the 3rd day of Ganesh Chaturthi. Some families perform the Ganpati puja on the 3rd day and immerse the idol in the sea or river nearby.

Ganpati Visarjan on the 11th day or Anant Chaturdashi – Anant Chaturdashi is the most significant day for Ganpati Visarjan. Apart from Ganesha Visarjan, Anant Chaturdashi is a very significant day as devotees worship Lord Vishnu in Anant form. Anant means having no boundaries or limits. Devotees observe a day-long fast and perform sacred Puja. Ganesha Visarjan is also known as Vinayaka Nimajjanam.
Thousands of devotees join the procession and fill the whole atmosphere with the chanting of Lord Ganesha. “Ganapati Bappa Morya” and “Ganesh Maharaj Ki, Jai” are a few of the famous slogans which are chanted throughout the procession.
Many fraternities install Ganpati Mandals where Ganesha Visarjan continues throughout the night till the next morning. Lord Ganesha is immersed into a water body, preferably in a river, lake, or sea. The idol of Lord Ganesha can be immersed in the water of a tub or bucket.
