In this Sankat Nashak Ganesh Stotra, Narad explains the magnificence of Lord Ganesha. Narad says that every person should bow his head and worship Lord Ganesha to ask for longevity and the elimination of all problems.
Lord Ganesha’s different names should be called out, including Vakratund, Ekdant, Krishna Pingaksh, Gajvakra, Lambodar, Chata Vikat, Vighna Rajendra, Dhumravarna, Bhalchandra, Vinayak, Ganapati, etc. In all three time periods of the day, people should worship these twelve names of Lord Ganesha. This frees a person from any sort of fear.
Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Devi, Kumara, Vishvamitra the sage, etc worshipped Lord Ganesha. This shows that Ganesha is the Supreme Being. Lord Ganapati is the chief of the hosts of the gods. He is omniscient and behind the wise. He is of infinite glory and lord of the Vedas, so by being devoted to Him, we can rest assured that He will take care of all our needs, both secular and spiritual.
Lord Ganesha’s worship fulfills all desires. A person looking for money becomes rich, a person looking for knowledge acquires it, and a person looking for salvation attains it.
It is a belief that this stotra provides results within six months. In one year, a person receives auspicious results. A person who writes this Sankat Nashak Ganesh Stotra and gives it to eight Brahmanas receives vast knowledge.

Sankat Nashak Ganesh Stotra Meaning
संकटनाशनं गणेशस्तोत्रं
श्री गणेशाय नमः।
नारद उवाच ।
प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं गौरीपुत्रं विनायकम् ।
भक्तावासं स्मरेनित्यं आयुःकामार्थसिद्धये ।
नारदजी बोले – पार्वतीनन्दन देवदेव श्रीगणेशजीको सिर झुकाकर प्रणाम करे और फिर अपनी आयु, कामना और अर्थकी सिद्धिके लिये उन भक्तनिवासका नित्यप्रति स्मरण करे ॥ १ ॥
The learned one, who wishes, for more life, wealth and love,
Should salute with his head, Lord Ganapathi, who is the son of Goddess Parvathi.
प्रथमं वक्रतुण्डं च एकदन्तं द्वितीयकम् ।
तृतीयं कृष्णपिंगाक्षं गजवक्त्रं चतुर्थकम् ।
पहला वक्रतुण्ड (टेढ़े मुखवाले), दूसरा एकदन्त (एक दाँतवाले), तीसरा कृष्णपिङ्गाक्ष (काली और भूरी आँखोंवाले), चौथा गजवक्त्र (हाथीके-से मुखवाले) ॥ २ ॥
Think of him first as a god with a broken tusk.
Second as the Lord with one tusk,
Third as the one with reddish black eyes,
Fourth is the one who has the face of an elephant.
लम्बोदरं पञ्चमं च षष्ठं विकटमेव च ।
सप्तमम विघ्नराजेन्द्रं धूम्रवर्णं तथाष्टमम्।
पाँचवाँ लम्बोदर (बड़े पेटवाले), छठा विकट (विकराल), सातवाँ विघ्नराजेन्द्र (विघ्नोंका शासन करनेवाले राजाधिराज) तथा आठवाँ धूम्रवर्ण (धूसर वर्णवाले) ॥ ३ ॥
Fifth as the one who has a very broad paunch,
Sixth as the one who is cruel to his enemies,
Seventh as the one who is the remover of obstacles,
Eighth is the one who is of the color of smoke.
नवमं भालचन्द्रं च दशमं तु विनायकम् ।
एकादशं गणपतिं द्वादशं तु गजाननम् ।
नवाँ भालचन्द्र (जिसके ललाटपर चन्द्रमा सुशोभित है), दसवाँ विनायक ग्यारहवाँ गणपति और बारहवाँ गजानन ॥ ४ ॥
Ninth was the one who crescents in his forehead,
The tenth is the one who is the leader in the removal of obstacles,
Eleventh was the leader of the army of Lord Shiva,
And the twelfth is the one who has the face of an elephant.
Benefits Sankat Nashan Ganesh Stotra
द्वादशैतानि नामानि त्रिसंध्यं यः पठेन्नरः।
न च विघ्नभयं तस्य सर्वसिद्धिकरः प्रभुः ।
इन बारह नामोंका जो पुरुष (प्रातः, मध्याह्न और सायंकाल) तीनों सन्ध्याओंमें पाठ करता है, हे प्रभो ! उसे किसी प्रकारके विघ्नका भय नहीं रहता; इस प्रकारका स्मरण सब प्रकारकी सिद्धियाँ देनेवाला है ॥ ५ ॥
Anyone reading these twelve names,
At dawn, noon, and dusk, Will never have fear of defeat.
And would always achieve whatever he wants.
विधार्थी लभते विध्यां धनार्थी लभते धनम् ।
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रान्मोक्षार्थी लभते गतिम् ।
इससे विद्याभिलाषी विद्या, धनाभिलाषी धन, पुत्रेच्छु पुत्र तथा मुमुक्षु मोक्षगति प्राप्त कर लेता है ॥ ६ ॥
One who pursues education will get knowledge,
One who wants to earn money will get money,
One who wishes for a son will get a son,
And one who wants salvation will get salvation.
जपेत् गणपतिस्तोत्रं षडभिर्मासैः फलं लभेत् ।
संवत्सरेण सिद्धिं च लभते नात्र संशयः ।
इस गणपतिस्तोत्रका जप करे तो छः मासमें इच्छित फल प्राप्त हो जाता है तथा एक वर्षमें पूर्ण सिद्धि प्राप्त हो जाती है— इसमें किसी प्रकारका सन्देह नहीं है ॥ ७ ॥
Results of chanting this prayer,
If Ganapati will be got within six months,
And within a year, he would get all wishes fulfilled,
And there is no doubt about this.
अष्टेभ्यो ब्राह्म्णेश्च लिखित्वा यः समर्पयेत् ।
तस्य विध्या भवेत्सर्वा गणेशस्य प्रसादतः ।
जो पुरुष इसे लिखकर आठ ब्राह्मणोंको समर्पण करता है, गणेशजीकी कृपासे उसे सब प्रकारकी विद्या प्राप्त हो जाती है ॥ ८ ॥
One who gives this prayer,
In writing to Eight wise people,
And offer it to Lord Ganesha.
Will become knowledgeable,
And would be blessed with all stellar qualities,
By the grace of Lord Ganesh.

इन बारह नामों का जो मनुष्य तीनों सन्धायों (प्रातः, मध्यान्ह और सांयकाल) में पाठ करता है, हे प्रभु ! उसे किसी प्रकार के विध्न का भय नहीं रहता, इस प्रकार का स्मरण सब सिद्धियाँ देनेवाला है ।। इससे विद्याभिलाषी विद्या, धनाभिलाषी धन, पुत्रेच्छु पुत्र तथा मुमुक्षु मोक्षगति प्राप्त कर लेता है ।। इस गणपति स्तोत्र का जप करे तो छहः मास में इच्छित फल प्राप्त हो जाता है तथा एक वर्ष में पूर्ण सिद्धि प्राप्त हो जाती है – इसमें किसी प्रकार का संदेह नहीं है ।। जो मनुष्य इसे लिखकर आठ ब्राह्मणों को समर्पण करता है, गणेश जी की कृपा से उसे सब प्रकार की विद्या प्राप्त हो जाती है ।।
