Summary The Shani Stotra is composed by Raghuvanshi king Dasharatha. Sanaischara blesses him that the famine will not occur and whosoever reads this prayer would realize all his wishes.

The Shani Stotra is composed by Raghuvanshi king Dasharatha. Dasharatha was once told by the sages that there would be a famine for 12 years which will be due to the negative impact of planet Saturn.

Dasharatha was the king of the Kosala kingdom and a scion of the Suryavamsha dynasty in Hinduism. He ruled from this capital at Ayodhya. Dasharatha was the son of Aja and Indumati. He had three primary consorts: Kausalya, Kaikeyi, and Sumitra, and from these unions were born Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana, and Shatrughna. He is mentioned in the scriptures of Ramayana and Vishnu Purana.

Fearing the Movement of Shani to Rohini which was expected to cause famine in his country for twelve years, King Dasharatha reaches the place of Shani to fight him, Instead, he prays to him. Sanaischara blesses him that the famine will not occur and whosoever reads this prayer would realize all his wishes.

Shani is the Lord of discipline and control. He shows us the truth and keeps us honest.

As the slowest moving planet, Saturn’s tedious eye keeps track of every action that is performed. He admits no shortcuts and no easy ways out of difficult situations.

Shani is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Shani is the most feared god and is allotted the job of granting fruits of one’s deeds.

And after worship and offering of food  and water ,
And later reads this prayer, if he wants son, he will get a son,
If he needs money he would get money,
If he wants kingdom he would get kingdom ,
If he wants victory, he would be blessed with victory,
If he wants long life, he would get long life,
