Skanda Shatkam is a marvelous prayer of Lord Skanda. Skanda, also called Karttikeya, Kumara, or Subrahmanya, Hindu god of war and was the firstborn son of Shiva. He is the son of Parvati and Shiva, the brother of Ganesha, and a deity whose parables have many interpretations in Hinduism.
Skanda was raised by the Krittikas, six stars that make up the Pleiades and are the wives of the sage stars who constitute the constellation, Ursa Major. Hence, Skanda is also called Karttikeya.
He molded his six faces to drink the milk of his six nurses. His relationship with Parvati is also acknowledged, and he is often illustrated in painting and sculpture as a six-headed child held by his mother, Parvati, and escorted by his brother Ganesha.
He is called Kumara because he is generally assumed to have never married. He has enormous strength and leads the army of the gods. When he planted his spear in the earth, none could budge it to save the god Vishnu, and then mountains and rivers shook.
It is acknowledged that reciting the divine hymn of Lord Skanda will help you to accomplish all your wishes and the seeker will acquire the presence of Lord Shiva at the last moment of his life.
