Pitradosha, Pitrarin Pitrashrap is the doshas in one's life. Pitras are the ancestors who had lived before us and our forefathers. Pitras have been described in many Hindu scriptures.
Pitras are equivalent to Gods. As our body has come into existence because of our ancestors.
Pitra Dosha occurs when the soul of our ancestors and departed forefathers does not get peace. The question that arises to the mind is How Do Pitras Affect Our lives.
Do the Pitradosha Pitrarin Pitrashrap have any impact on the success and peace in our life?
There are three types of influence by which Pitras impact our lives which are Pitri Rin, Pitri Shraap, and Pitri Dosha.
Pitri Rin
Pitra Rin is not a curse of the Ancestors, but it is a Karmic Debt of the ancestors which the person in the family is supposed to pay. Since we enjoy the wealth, name, and fame earned by our ancestors we are equally indebted to them. This is known as Pitri Rin.
Though there are many other Rin or debts to pay like Rin of nature and Rin of devtas, the Pitra Rin is the most crucial one. As it may hamper the progress and peace of the person concerned.
Pitra Dosha
Since we enjoy the wealth, name, and fame earned by our ancestors we are equally liable to suffer their misdeeds too. The dosh created as a result of the bad deeds of our ancestors is pitra dosh. The reasons for Pitra Dosha maybe -
a) Bad deeds/karma of our ancestors in earlier life, knowingly or unknowingly, embarrassing their souls,
b) Lack of fulfillment of parental desires of our ancestors
c) If someone fails to remember and honor the ancestors properly
d) A sudden and unnatural death of any relative ancestors at an early age.
Pitra Shrap
This is the curse of the ancestors and is a critical one. Sometimes there are known or unknown ancestors for which there is no ritual done for their Gati or transcendence. The Pitras then put the curse on the family tree as they are not free from their bondage.
Sometimes the Pitras have unfulfilled wishes or promises in their lives which they had not met. If certain wishes remain attached to the soul of the ancestors, this dissatisfaction also forces the Pitras to curse on the family tree.
Failure to look after the aged peoples and leaving them to fend for themselves, the curse of the departed souls on their own family, and if the family members fail to adhere to the basic requirement of doing yearly rituals for their ancestors are some of the reasons of Pitra Shrap.
Pitru Dosh occurs if any ancestors up to the 7th generation on the father’s side and up to the 4th generation on the mother’s side have expired at an early age or have had an unnatural death. Pitra Dosha can cause severe and unknown problems in the life of family members.
Pitra Dosha can cause problems like family disputes, health issues, inability to get married, childlessness, mentally or physically retarded children, the demise of children at an early age, repeated miscarriages, suicidal tendencies, uncontrollable pain persisting even after medication, depression, and addictions.
Reasons that are likely to bring Pitra Dosha, Pitra Rin, and Pitra Shrap
- Forcefully occupying others' wealth and belongings.
- Luring with false promises and later deceiving to gain their wealth.
- Any illegal & immoral methods adopted to gain wealth.
- Wrongly accused of personal gain or Standing false testimony.
- Illegitimate or illegal relationship with a married woman/ man.
- Willfully destroying the modesty of married / unmarried Girls/Women and ruining their life by deceiving them.
- Killing a living creature for pleasure, food, arrogance, or without any reason.
- Abusing Gods and idols in any form.
- Separating the mother from their offspring.
- Instigating quarrels in the family of another person.
- Insulting the Guru and his family.
- Aiding directly or indirectly or being instrumental to these acts.
The above-said acts by any individual would bring in bad karmas that can not be nullified by offering pooja, Homam, fasting, visiting important temples, donation, and materialistic offerings.
The above dosha gets deleted only if the person undergoes similar pain or agony during the present life or that comes after this.
Pitra dosha nivaran is considered to be a very important duty of a person. If the pitras are satisfied and happy with our shraddha and other rituals they can bring joy and clear our path to success in all spheres.

The re-birth is decided based on the quantum of bad karma that the soul carries on its head. If a soul has better karmic balance, the soul will give birth in a family where there is less pain and more happiness.
On the other hand, a soul with a lot of bad karmic balance will be born in a family where there exists sadness, sorrows, and poverty that guarantees pain and agony to the soul. Life is a matter of choice and destiny.
